Headaches and migraines can be an incredibly painful and frustrating part of life for many people. Occasional headaches are bad enough, but if you’re one of the many Americans who have headaches that interfere with your everyday life, you should consider chiropractic treatment. Rather than relying on medication to lessen headache pain, Dr. Llaird Likens will investigate to find the underlying cause and then prescribe specific therapies that reduce and eliminate your headaches all together.

Why Choose Chiropractic for Headaches?

Headaches and migraines are often a signal from your body that something about the spine is misaligned. The tension and pressure put on nerves, tissue and muscle because of that misalignment can present as a headache or migraine. Spinal adjustments can bring the spine back into alignment, allowing more natural blood flow and release of unnecessary pressure, both of which can be what causes the throbbing described by patients due to headaches.

Other Ways a Chiropractor Can Help

Spinal adjustment is the primary way Dr. Llaird Likens can help with headaches and migraines. Your overall wellness treatment plan might also include education about how to identify the triggers that cause your headaches. They’re different for everyone but may include certain foods, environmental stressors, allergies and certain behaviors. Since headaches can often be a signal of another condition or issue in the body, Dr. Llaird Likens will ensure to look for any underlying causes during your examination and consultation. Other therapies may be applied, depending on your condition, including massage therapy.

Start Headache Prevention Today

We hope you’ll give us a call and set up an appointment today. In the meantime, we want to provide you with some tools that you can use today to prevent headaches. The first tip is to reduce the amount of time you spend in one fixed position. For example, if you work in an office, set a timer to remind you to stretch and move around every 30 minutes to one hour. You can also add moderate exercise to your lifestyle which can in turn improve blood flow and reduce the probability of headaches. Finding ways to reduce stress and decompress can also help you prevent headaches. Finally, a great way to prevent headaches is to be sure you are properly hydrated. Aim to get at least half of your body weight in ounces of water everyday.
